STOP BY MARC'S GALLERY LOCATED IN THE HEART OF MOREHEAD CITY, NORTH CAROLINA OR BROWSE THE NEWEST ADDITION TO OUR WEBSITE, THE ONLINE STORE.
In June 2015, the Marc Montocchio Gallery & Studio opened at 712 Arendell Street in downtown Morehead City, North Carolina. Marc personally oversaw the renovation of this historic location which first opened as a movie theater in 1928..
When Marc designed the space, function was as important as form because it doubles as a working photographic studio. The one-of-a-kind lighting truss that hangs from the ceiling was built by local craftsman Tim Daly of Carolina Customer Towers. Floor-to-ceiling glass panels separate the gallery from the Marc Montocchio Production Suite, where Marc and his crew can be seen working on their current projects.
Visitors are welcome to browse the museum-like space, guided by either Marc himself (if he’s in town!), or a complimentary, printed self-guide. The self-guide provides information on each image on display, the location it was shot, and pricing for Marc’s work. As one recent customer said, “Visiting Marc’s gallery is like walking through a high-definition aquarium. It’s more of an experience than a store.”
However, the gallery is a great place to shop! Whether you’re looking for the perfect piece of art to complete a redecorating project, or you’d like to take home a memento of your visit to the Crystal Coast, Marc’s gallery has something for everyone. Prices start at $15, and each print is personally signed by Marc.

“Pops was larger than life, a real old-world gentleman. And I was in awe of him,” says Marc. “His tackle box was a treasure trove. When I was a kid, I used to sneak into the room where he kept his fishing gear and spend hours just looking at his lures. He gave me my first saltwater reel when I was ten.” Marc first picked up an underwater camera while serving as a clearance diver in the South African navy. After completing his military service, Marc moved to Grand Cayman, where he worked as a diving instructor, boat captain, and fishing guide, while continuing to develop his unique photographic style.
Marc’s photography has since taken him on expeditions all over the world, documenting underwater scenes that his beloved grandfather could have only imagined. He continues to produce cutting-edge images of ocean life in places like the Cayman Islands, Bahamas, Mexico, Cuba, Mexico, Egypt’s Red Sea, Indonesia, Bahamas, Namibia, Papua New Guinea, Australia’s Great Barrier Reef, Costa Rica, and Hawaii
When he’s not traveling for work, Marc lives by the water in Morehead City, North Carolina with his wife Laura and his dog Kitty..
